The victorian brick home in front of the Visitor's Center was the old Bitler homestead of Joel and Elizabeth (Dieffenbacher) Bitler and later generations until it was sold to PP&L. The Laura Smith Trail of History on property is named after Laura Billmeyer-Smith, granddaughter of Joel Bitler. The maple tree in front of the home was a gift of the Bitlers to commemorate the 100th Bitler Reunion in 2009.
